A Florida man robbed while allegedly trying to buy drugs with his 18-month-old daughter in tow was himself arrested, police say.

Investigators said Kristopher Peters, 21, of DeLand contacted a man to buy tablets of powerful prescription painkiller Oxycodon and brought his daughter outside his home with him to negotiate a price with the dealer, the Orlando Sentinel reported Wednesday.

An arrest affidavit filed in the case said Peters went back inside his apartment to retrieve $200 and the other man was holding a firearm when he returned.

"I can't do this in front of your daughter," police quoted the man as telling Peters. The man took the money and fled without giving Peters the drugs, police said.

Peters told police the drug dealer had grabbed his daughter and ordered him to get the money from inside, but investigators said the story was fabricated.

Peters was arrested and charged with child endangerment.
