Pierce Brosnan and Liam Neeson will star in "Seraphim Falls," a period drama financed by Mel Gibson and Bruce Davey's Icon Films.

David Von Ancken will direct the psychological action script he wrote with Abbey Everett Jaques, Daily Variety reported Tuesday.
"Seraphim Falls" is about a colonel's quest to settle a grudge at the end of the Civil War.
The film, which starts shooting Oct. 17, will be Von Ancken's feature directing debut. He is an experienced TV director, having done episodes of "The Shield,""CSI: NY,""Cold Case" and "Without a Trace."
