A Frito-Lay spokesman said Pepsi-flavored Cheetos are available for a limited time in Japan, but there are no current plans to bring them to the United States.
However, he said there are currently no plans to market the Pepsi Cheetos in the United States.
Lynn Dornblaser, an expert on new products at research firm Mintel, said the "flavor-mashing" trend in snack food "speaks to consumers' short attention spans."
"Consumers all want something absolutely new that's never been seen before," Dornblaser said.
USA Today said an estimated 20,000 new food and drink products are introduced to the U.S. market each year.
