Paul McCartney and longtime girlfriend Nancy Shevell get engaged

Paul McCartney is engaged to marry his longtime girlfriend, New York businesswoman Nancy Shevell, sources told People.com.

The British rock 'n' roll icon's first wife, Linda, died of cancer in 1998. He married Heather Mills in 2002, but the relationship was stormy and they were officially divorced by 2008.
McCartney, 68, starting dating Shevell, 51, about four years ago.
"Nancy and Paul are getting married," a source told People.com.
"Ring and all -- very exciting."
