UPI News Service, 10/16/2010

The manager of a New Jersey car dealership says a Florida minister is getting the car he was promised if he refrained from burning the Koran.

David Canton of Brad Benson Hyundai in New Brunswick told CNN the Rev. Terry Jones will be given a 2011 Accent valued at $13,600.

Jones, pastor of Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, a church with a congregation of about 50, became an international celebrity when he threatened to burn copies of the Koran on Sept. 11, the ninth anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attacks. He changed his plans after the proposed burning was denounced by President Obama, Army Gen. David Petraeus and many others.

The dealership offered the car as an additional inducement. Canton said someone from the church recently called to see if the offer was still on.

"He stood up to his end of the bargain and we're standing up to ours," Canton said.

A woman at the church told CNN Jones plans to give the car to a Muslim charitable organization.
