"I didn't even know if we were going to make another record," lead singer Haley Williams said.

"There was a moment when I didn't even want it to happen. Then it was like, I want it to happen, but I don't know how we're going to do it."

The poppy single is a departure from Paramore's rock roots and features a 1980's new wave sound.

A video for the single was released that also calls back to the '80s that features hand-drawn cartoon graphics and an abundance of bright colors.

After Laughter is the band's first release since their 2013 self-titled album.

It marks the return of original drummer Zac Farro who left the group in 2010 alongside his brother, bassist Josh Farro.

Fans who pre-order After Laugher will receive an instant free download of "Hard Times."

Paramore is set to hit the stage at the 2017 Riot Fest which takes place inside Chicago's Douglas Park from Sept. 15-17.
