Orlando Bloom rejects David Hasselhoff's 'Knight Rider' film offer

UPI News Service, 09/01/2006

David Hasselhoff's attempt to mount a film version of TV's "Knight Rider" hit a detour recently when British actor Orlando Bloom rejected a role in the film.

Moviehole.net reported that Bloom turned down the "Baywatch" star's offer to play his son in the film adaptation of the popular '80s series, saying that while he enjoyed many series from the decade he had no particular fondness for "Knight Rider."

"I used to watch when I was 8 but I didn't like it any more than any other series," said the 29-year-old actor, the Web site reported.

Hasselhoff has been trying to bring the TV series to the big screen for years, with him reprising his role as Michael Knight in the talking car adventure. He took it to numerous studios before it finally put in development by The Weinstein Co., the Web site said.

Moviehole.net said that before he contacted Bloom, he was turned down by actors Paul Walker and Ashton Kutcher.
