A Minnesota clothing company has removed a picture of the late Steve Jobs from its Web site after questions about the origins of his black mock turtlenecks.

St. Croix Shop, which sells black mock turtlenecks created by Winona, Minn., based Knitcraft, posted a picture of Jobs to its Web site after the Apple founder's Oct. 5 death and proclaimed him a "fan of St. Croix," the St. Paul (Minn.) Pioneer-Press reported Tuesday.
However, a soon-to-be-released biography of Jobs quotes him as saying his mock turtlenecks were made by Japanese designer Issey Miyake.
"He made me like a hundred of them," the book quotes Jobs as saying. "That's what I wear."
Mary Bergin, vice president of Knitcraft, said not all of Jobs' shirts looked identical.
"It is apparent to us that some of the garments are not those made by St. Croix and some of the garments look distinctively like St. Croix," Bergin said in an email. She said the book states, "Steve Jobs wore turtlenecks from a Japanese designer -- which he probably did, but it does not say that is the 'only' brand that he has worn."
The photo of Jobs was taken down from the St. Croix Web site.
