Winfrey also asked her viewers to log onto her talk show's Web site and pledge to help refurnish the houses she plans to rebuild in the stricken areas.
She asked for donations of everything from towels to toasters to home construction, depending on one's financial ability.
Actress Jennifer Aniston also gave Winfrey her first TV interview since her breakup with Brad Pitt.
The two women sipped champagne Monday as Aniston said she was moving on with her life, looking forward to dating again and to some day having children.
Aniston appeared frustrated with all the media attention still being showered on her divorce, saying: "You want to say, 'Come on people. Turn the page.'"
