The upcoming Los Angeles-based "Apprentice" sixth season will welcome Olympic gold medalist, Angela Ruggerio, to its pool of contestants.

Selected to the show through online voting at NBCOlympics.com, Ruggerio will represent the first instance of stunt-casting for the show. The season itself will also be the first to be set in Los Angeles rather than New York.

A member of three Olympic women's U.S. ice hockey teams, Ruggerio was chosen over 11 other Olympic athletes to appear on the show. No stranger to pressure, she will now contend with her opponents on the highly competitive show.

The New York Daily News quotes Ruggerio as saying, "I'll definitely be bringing my Olympic spirit and competitive edge to the game."

The ongoing fifth season's finale was moved to Los Angeles to make the geographical transition easier and airs live this Monday at 9:30 p.m.
