Officials with a Virginia jail said a guard was not following official policy when female visitors were told to remove their bras.

Mary Lou McDonough, director of the Prince George County Department of Corrections, said women were told to remove their bras before passing through the metal detector at the county jail during the weekend due to a "training issue" with an officer, The Washington Post reported Thursday.
McDonough said the jail installed a new metal detector system about two weeks ago that indicates the location of metal on the body of a person passing through, allowing guards to tell the difference between an underwire bra and contraband items.
"We've got new equipment that makes the jail more secure," she said.
