Ten tickets issued to cyclists caught by a speed trap in New York City's Central Park are being voided, the Police Department said.

David Regen, who lives a few blocks from the park on the Upper West Side, told The New York Times he got a personal visit from two police officers while he was eating dinner Tuesday evening. He had been cited that morning for doing 25 mph on the West Drive, 10 mph above the maximum for bicycles.
The officers apologized for the ticket and told him it was being withdrawn.
Deputy Inspector Kim Royster, a police spokeswoman, said the mistake was not the tickets themselves but the way they were written. Most of the recipients were told they had to make personal appearances in Traffic Court, the wrong venue for a violation of a Parks Department regulation.
There is also some question about whether the 15 mph limit for bicycles, which is 10 mph below the speed limit for cars on the same roads, is adequately posted.
Regen told the Times he is happy to get the apology but would still like to see the speed limit in the park increased for two-wheelers.
