Police in England said they are not seeking any criminal prosecutions in the case of a baby born to a 15-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy.

A Sussex Police spokeswoman said investigators determined it was "not in anyone's interests" to seek a prosecution in the case of Alfie Patten, 13, who impregnated his girlfriend, Chantelle Steadman, 15, when he was 12 and she was 14, The Sun reported Friday.

The baby, Maisie Roxanne, weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces when she was born Monday at the Eastbourne District General Hospital.

"Sussex Police Child Protection Team were aware of a 14-year-old girl that had become pregnant as the result of a relationship with a 12-year-old boy," the police force said in a statement. "A joint agency investigation with East Sussex County Council Children's Services has taken place which has considered the needs of both individuals and there will be continued support for these two young people in the future."
