The Trinity Church in New York used Twitter to offer registered users a Good Friday rendition of the Passion of the Christ story, a church official says.

Linda Hanick, vice president of communication and marketing for the historic church, said church officials used the Internet social networking service to tell the story of Jesus Christ in short text bursts to users, The Daily Telegraph reported Friday.
"What we are trying to do at Trinity Wall Street is to communicate the story of Christ in as many ways as we can," Hanick said of the new church offering.
"This was kind of the next evolution in communicating the gospel message."
The British newspaper said the unique Good Friday offering does not mark the first time Trinity Church has turned to technology to spread its message.
The Christian site has its own page on the social networking Web site, Face book, and previously used Twitter to offer church updates to parishioners.
