New Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman joins 'The Savages' film

"Capote" Academy Award-winner Philip Seymour Hoffman has signed on to star opposite Laura Linney in Fox Searchlight's comedy/drama, "The Savages."

Tamara Jenkins wrote the screenplay and will also direct, The Hollywood Reporter said Tuesday.
Hoffman and Linney will play siblings who have to take care of their estranged, elderly and ailing father.
Hoffman will next been seen in "Mission: Impossible 3," which opens May 5.
