The new Bolshoi season will open in Moscow with U.S. choreographer John Neumeier's "Midsummer Night's Dream," the Russian news agency Novosti reported Tuesday.

"Dream" recently played to full houses at the Hamburg, Germany, ballet theater. While Neumeier had until recently cooperated with the St. Petersburg-based Mariinsky theater, he has never worked in the Russian capital before.
The production has been performed more than 250 times, changing with each production, Neumeier said at a Moscow news conference after arriving a week before the first show.
"I find it very interesting to try and stage this ballet together with the Moscow troupe because I think that the Bolshoi theater abounds in artistic scenic characters," Neumeier said.
