Nelson Mandela's 46664 Campaign gets help from music stars

UPI News Service, 01/07/2005

The 46664 Campaign, set up by South Africa's Nelson Mandela to eradicate AIDS, is getting donations from downloaded tracks by Paul McCartney, Queen and Sting.

The three recorded exclusive tracks on iTunes to help the cause, the BBC reported Friday.

Other contributors include Eurythmics guitarist David A. Stewart and reggae artist Jimmy Cliff.

The campaign's use of "46664" stems from Mandela's prison number on Robben Island where he was held for 18 years.
