NBC orders 'The Bionic Woman,' 'Fort Pit,' and 'Chuck' drama pilots

UPI News Service, 01/03/2007

A modernized take on "The Bionic Woman" is among three new hourlong U.S. pilots that the NBC network has picked up to bolster its programming.

The Hollywood Reporter said "Bionic," whose pickup is contingent on its future cast, will offer a re-invention of the popular 1970s series by focusing on a mechanically enhanced woman.

The second show picked up by NBC was "Fort Pit," a police dramatic comedy from "Law & Order" veteran Michael Chernuchin and "Rescue Me" creators Denis Leary and Peter Tolan.

"It's a dysfunctional and disfranchised group of people, and out of that comes great comedy," Sony TV production exec Jamie Erlicht said of "Fort Pit."

The final pilot tabbed by NBC was another dramatic comedy entitled "Chuck," that was written by "The O.C." creator Josh Schwart and Chris Fedak.

The paper said that "Chuck" will focus on a group of people in their 20s and spies, very similar in theme to 1997's "Grosse Pointe Blank."
