The North Atlantic Treaty Organization made a video in advance of its upcoming summit in Chicago featuring several incorrect facts about the city.
The video, designed to educate world leaders about Chicago and broadcast on Natochannel.tv ahead of the late May summit, falsely calls Chicago the capital city of Illinois and labels it as the city where Barack Obama grew up, when he in fact moved there as an adult, the Chicago Tribune reported Friday.
The NATO video also incorrectly states the Chicago Tribune was founded by Col. Robert R. McCormick, who the summit's venue, McCormick Place, is named after. The Tribune was founded by James Kelly, John E. Wheeler and Joseph K.C. Forrest in 1847, and McCormick owned and published the paper for much of the early 1900s.
Jennifer Martinez, Chicago NATO host committee spokeswoman, said her office had not reviewed the video before it was posted and the mistakes have since been corrected.
