Once again, singer Sara Evans will fill in as host of the USA Networks live talent competition that airs Tuesday nights, Billboard.com reported.
The throat injury was a result of a severe bout with viral bronchitis, doctors said, adding they expected her to make "a speedy recovery."
Rimes said she is hoping to be well enough to be back for the show's April 26 season finale.
The injury forced Rimes to also cancel planned appearances in Texas and Arizona. She is due to open an extensive tour April 29 in Orlando, Fla., and has dates scheduled through late August.
Meanwhile, her television fill-in, Evans, is due to join Alan Jackson's spring U.S. tour beginning April 22.
