MTV cancels 2005 MTV Video Music Awards Latin America ceremony

There will not be a 2005 MTV Video Music Awards Latin America ceremony.

The awards show -- first scheduled for Oct. 20 in Playa del Carmen, Mexico -- was moved up a day to try and avoid Hurricane Wilma, and then postponed altogether.
Organizers decided there is not enough time to stage an awards ceremony before the end of the year, Billboard.com reported Wednesday.
The 2005 VMALA winners will be announced in December.
