Christine Hemming, 53, was allowed to remain free on bail pending her sentencing next month, The Daily Telegraph reported. During the trial, she said her memory of the incident was fuzzy.
John Hemming, a millionaire businessman and member of the Liberal Democratic Party, represents Birmingham Yardley in Parliament. He and Christine have been married for 30 years and have three children, but he has also been having a 13-year affair, known to his wife, with Emily Cox, 33, his former personal assistant, and has a daughter with her, the newspaper reported.
The Hemmings had just separated at the time of the kitten-stealing incident. Christine Hemming said she went to Cox's house and realized her husband was inside and entered the property to see if she could find anything that would help her during divorce proceedings.
"Then this kitten comes up to me and rubs itself against my legs and basically I thought, 'Not only has he replaced me, he's replaced our cats'," she said.
Hemming said she later released the 4-month-old kitten, Beauty. Cox made a public appeal Friday night, saying if anyone has given a home to the missing cat she would like to know.
