UPI News Service, 03/17/2005
A Montana handyman was charged Thursday with attempting to kidnap David Letterman's son.
The Helena Independent Record reports that Kelly Allen Frank has also been charged with felony theft. Frank allegedly overcharged Letterman for work he did on the talk show host's home in western Montana.
Frank allegedly planned to kidnap the little boy's nanny as well.
Bail was set at $500,000 in Teton County on the charges of felony solicitation to commit kidnapping and theft. An additional $100,000 was set in Lewis and Clark County, where prosecutors in Helena filed a petition to revoke a suspended sentence Framk received in 1999 on an intimidation charge.
Frank also faces a misdemeanor charge of obstructing a police officer for allegedly lying to an FBI officer questioning him about the kidnapping.
