Miss Oklahoma Jennifer Berry crowned Miss America 2006

Oklahoma's Jennifer Berry has been crowned Miss America 2006 at The Aladdin Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

Berry, 22, a University of Oklahoma student, said she will use her reign to fight drunken driving and underage drinking, the Miss America organization said in a news release.
Berry plans to put her $30,000 scholarship toward her goal of becoming an elementary school teacher.
Miss Georgia Monica Pang was first runner-up, followed by Miss Alabama Alexa Jones, Miss Virginia Kristi Lauren Glakas and Miss District of Columbia Shannon Schambeau.
The Miss Congeniality Award, voted upon by the contestants, went Miss Hawaii Malika Dudley.
Saturday night's pageant was broadcast live on CMT.
