Michael Phelps isn't objecting to the idea of potentially competing on Dancing with the Stars although he's not gunning for the opportunity either.

"I won't say I'm ruling anything out, who knows?" Phelps told Us Weekly at a "Spotlight On Swimming" event in London yesterday.

Phelps obviously moves swiftly in the water, but even the Olympic gold medalist himself questions whether he could move gracefully on a dance floor despite the previous success of former Dancing with the Stars contestants and fellow Olympians Shawn Johnson, Apolo Anton Ohno and Natalie Coughlin on the show.

"I haven't really been known for my dancing. I know everyone who's done it -- I've talked to Apolo and Natalie about it, and they said they've enjoyed it and had a blast," the 27-year-old athlete said.

While Phelps has acquired 22 Olympic medals over the years, 18 of which are gold, his Team U.S.A. swimming teammate Ryan Lochte confidently believes he could steal the gold away from Phelps in the form of Dancing with the Stars' coveted mirror-ball trophy.

"Since I'm so used to competing against Michael Phelps, I'd have him on the [Dancing with the Stars]," Lochte told Us last week at the P&G Family Home in London.

Whether he'd really have the dancing skills to beat Phelps or even make it far in the competition remains uncertain, but either way, Lochte is interested in appearing on the show.

"I could do Dancing with the Stars! Yeah, I think so," Lochte said.
