Michael Moore is campaigning for his film, "Fahrenheit 911," to win a People's Choice Award, MSNBC reported Monday.

The movie criticizing the Bush administration's policies leading up to and during the Iraq War has been nominated Favorite Film of the Year by People's Choice Awards voters. "Fahrenheit" is the first documentary to compete in the category.

"Now, normally I wouldn't make a very big deal out of something like this," Moore wrote on his Web site. "But then a group of top Republicans took out a full page ad in USA Today. (And among other things they) issued a not-so-subtle threat to the Academy Awards voters that, in essence, said don't even THINK about nominating 'Fahrenheit 9/11' for Best Picture. And (Fox anchor) Bill O'Reilly recently bellowed that if the Oscars recognize my work this year, 'Middle America will boycott Hollywood.' Oops. I guess he spoke too soon. Because now along comes Middle America's favorite awards show, the People's Choice."

"I promise, if we win, to give a nice and polite speech," Moore wrote.
