Michael Jackson Hurricane Katrina benefit single still a mystery
UPI News Service, 10/15/2005
Michael Jackson's charity single for Hurricane Katrina victims has either fallen behind schedule or fallen apart, the Los Angeles Times said Saturday.
One industry source told the Times Jackson's project is "going nowhere."
The manager who would only speak to the newspaper if his name was not revealed, said: "We had one phone call and nothing has happened since, and I'd be surprised at this point if it did. We're not really wanting anything to do with Michael right now anyway."
However, a spokesman for James Brown Enterprises said he was told by "Michael's people" that the song has changed and the project has been "pushed back one or two weeks."
Jackson spokeswoman Raymone K. Bain said all questions would be answered in a short time, the Times said.
Jackson, 47, has been in London this week, reportedly preparing the song.
"The next phase will be scheduling a recording date," Bain told the newspaper via e-mail.
