Fox, who has been living with the disease for more than two decades, is best known for his work on the sitcoms "Spin City" and "Family Ties," as well as in the "Back to the Future" movies.

Since cutting back his workload, he has made celebrated guest appearances on "Rescue Me," "Boston Legal," "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "The Good Wife."

The Hollywood Reporter said Fox is working with Sony Pictures Television on a single-camera project based on his life and in which he would star.

The show is being penned by "Arrested Development" and "Cougar Town" writer Sam Laybourne.

It would be directed by Will Gluck, who directed the 2010 movie "Easy A," the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.
