Mel Gibson upset he was dropped from 'Hangover' sequel after protest

UPI News Service, 10/25/2010

Mel Gibson is upset he was dropped from "The Hangover Part II" after stars of the comedy said they didn't want to work with him.

Liam Neeson took over Gibson's planned role as a Bangkok tattoo artist last week amid reports unnamed members of the movie's cast and crew balked at collaborating with Gibson.

Gibson's former girlfriend recently accused him of domestic abuse, and recordings allegedly of the actor uttering threats and racist comments have been making the rounds on the Internet. He has not, however, been charged with any crimes in the matter.

"(Gibson) doesn't understand why Mike Tyson, a drug user who turned his life around, was given a chance while Mel was kicked to the curb. Everybody deserves a second chance," a source close to Gibson told the New York Post.

"The Hangover," a surprise box-office hit of 2009, featured former boxing champion Mike Tyson as himself.

Gibson is also trying to live down a notorious 2006 driving under the influence arrest in which he made anti-Semitic remarks to a police officer. He later apologized for his behavior.
