Stewart's release from prison was carried on live television Friday and knitters and crocheters were keen to get the pattern for the handmade blue and tan-flecked poncho and inundated Lion Brand Yarn's Web site with requests, the New York Daily News reported Thursday.
Alana Rabinowitz, director of consumer marketing for Lion Brand, said the free crochet pattern will be ready next Tuesday or Wednesday on the company's Web site, lionbrand.com.
But for Stewart fans who can't wait, the Daily News said a knockoff poncho on eBay was going for $152.50 early Thursday.
Stewart told her colleagues on returning to work in New York Monday the poncho was a going-away gift from a fellow inmate who crochets 12 hours per day.
