FYI has announced it has renewed Married at First Sight and its second edition is slated to air 11 one-hour episodes in 2015.
Married at First Sight is an extreme social experiment that follows six brave individuals as they agree to legally wed a complete stranger, knowing absolutely nothing about their life-long partner before exchanging vows. Three couples, assumed to be perfect for one another by a panel of doctors, are matched scientifically.
"Married at First Sight has truly captured viewers' attention and garnered awareness for FYI following our successful rebrand," FYI president Jana Bennett said in a statement. "The series reflects the authentic, relatable and universal journey -- our search for true love. The quest will continue anew next year."
Over the course of about a month, Married at First Sight captures each couple's journey -- from their wedding and honeymoon to moving in together and dealing with the struggles of their unconventional marriage. At the end of their experience, each pair of newlyweds will have the option to stay together or get divorced.
The series' first season -- which features Jamie Otis from The Bachelor's sixteenth season -- debuted on July 8 with new episodes airing every Tuesday night at 9PM ET/PT. During Married at First Sight's September 9 finale, viewers will discover which first-season couples want to make their marriage work or call it quits.
