Mariah Carey returns to top of Billboard 200 album chart

Mariah Carey's "The Emancipation of Mimi" climbed back to the top of The Billboard 200 Wednesday, after sitting at No. 3 for three consecutive weeks.

Nielsen SoundScan reported Carey's comeback project was the top-selling album for the past week, even though sales dipped 4 percent from the previous week.

System of a Down's "Mezmerize" jumped from No. 4 to No. 2, even though sales of the CD fell 30 percent from the previous week. Audioslave's "Out of Exile" fell from No. 1 to No. 3.

Gwen Stefani's solo debut "Love, Angel, Music, Baby" climbed from No. 10 to No.5 and Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway" shot up from No. 14 to No. 9.

Toby Keith's "Honkytonk University" moved up one spot to No. 4, and Dave Matthews Band's "Stand Up" held steady at No. 7 for a second week. Common's "Be" fell from No. 2 last week to No. 6 this week.

U.S. album sales were down 3.4 percent from the previous week and off 10.5 percent from the same week last year. Sales for 2005 are running about 8 percent behind last year's pace.
