Leavenworth, Kan., police Detective Chris Nicholson said he was contacted by a man who said he found $1,460 dropped near a supermarket, KMBC-TV, Kansas City, Mo., reported Wednesday.
Nicholson said the man told him he was going to use the money to pay his bills but found the cash unnecessary when he was hired for a new job.
Police said the money, which was reported missing March 29, was returned to a man who reported he'd apparently dropped the money, which came from the sale of a car.
Even though the money was accidentally dropped, the case was still considered a theft but the man who'd lost the funds also said he doesn't plan to press charges.
