New York day trader Tim Janus ate 10 3/4 18-ounce burritos in a period of 12 minutes to win Oregon's Costa Vida World Burrito Eating Championship this weekend.

Known affectionately as "Eater X" in the competitive eating world, Janus wore his trademark face-paint throughout this weekend's competition in Portland and later signed autographs for his loyal fans, the Portland Press Herald reported Sunday.
"It was pretty sweet," 13-year-old Portland resident Adam Berg said of Janus' win on Saturday.
Yet not everyone at Saturday's competition found the speed-eating as fascinating, the newspaper said.
Erin Salvador, who attended the restaurant's first-annual event with her family, said she lost both her interest and her appetite shortly after the Major League Eating competition began.
"I've never turned down free food until today," she said of the free burritos offered during the event. "It's an impressive show of stamina, but I had enough of it at 1 1/2 minutes in."
