Alfred Morta, 49, of Edison, was arrested on charges he helped himself to outdoor decorations from other houses, plus some patio furniture.
"In one weekend two weeks ago, a dozen homes were hit in a three-block area," Metuchen police officer David Liantonio told the Newark Star-Ledger Thursday.
Liantonio said nearly 100 items were reported stolen in Edison and neighboring Metuchen.
Morta came under suspicion after a neighbor saw a news story about the thefts and recognized some of the decorations on Morta's lawn.
