Madonna has been booked to perform at the Super Bowl XLVI halftime show in February, the NFL and NBC announced.

The recording star will be accompanied during the show by performers from Cirque du Soleil.
Madonna has sold more than 300 million records during her three-decade-long career.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee wrote, directed and produced "W.E.," a film opening in limited release this month.
The Super Bowl game at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis is to air on NBC Feb. 5.
More than 162 million viewers in the United States watched last year's Super Bowl halftime show.
Recent halftime acts included The Black Eyed Peas, The Who, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Prince, the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and U2.
