Lindsay Lohan ordered to undergo rigorous outpatient treatment

UPI News Service, 08/25/2010

Lindsay Lohan's attorney says the U.S. actress will undergo rigorous outpatient treatment for drug and alcohol addiction now that she is out of rehab.

Lohan's attorney Ed McPherson confirmed the plan to UsMagazine.com.

The actress was informed at a hearing at a Beverly Hills, Calif., courthouse Wednesday that until Nov. 1 she must live in her Los Angeles-area home, attend psychotherapy sessions five times per week, speak with a "chemical dependency mentor" at least seven times a week, attend meetings for a 12-step dependency program five times a week and take part in behavioral therapy twice a week.

She also will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing at least twice a week and be forbidden to leave California until Nov. 1, UsMagazine.com said.

Lohan was released Tuesday from her court-ordered, in-patient drug rehabilitation program at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.

She reportedly signed her discharge papers from the facility on her 22nd day of treatment.

The 24-year-old star of "Freaky Friday" and "Mean Girls" spent nearly two weeks this summer in a solitary jail cell for violating probation in a 2007 driving-under-the-influence case. Her 90-day sentence was cut short because of good behavior and jail overcrowding.

Lohan, who has long battled addiction to drugs and alcohol, had been at the drug treatment facility since her Aug. 2 release from jail.
