Lindsay Lohan wasn't charged with felony theft for allegedly stealing a $2,500 necklace, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said Monday.

Prosecutors are still considering the evidence police presented to them last week, E! News said.

"Absolutely nothing will be filed today," district attorney spokeswoman Jane Robison told E! News Monday.

Lohan's lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, issued a statement during the weekend saying, "We vehemently deny these allegations, and if charges are filed, we will fight them in court, not in the press."

The Los Angeles Times said police detectives investigated whether Lohan stole a "one of a kind" gold necklace with semiprecious stones from a Venice, Calif., jewelry store near her home last month.

Law enforcement sources told the Times the "Mean Girls" and "Freaky Friday" star was spotted in a store security video wearing the necklace before it was reported missing.

Once Lohan became a suspect in the necklace's disappearance, one of her associates turned it in at a police station, the sources told the newspaper.

The 24-year-old actress has made several trips to rehab where she's battled her addictions to drugs and alcohol in recent years. She has also spent time in jail for violating the terms of her probation in a driving-under-the-influence case.
