The producers of "Late Show with David Letterman" say a mistake was made and U.S. actress Lindsay Lohan will not appear on the show as was announced Tuesday.

CBS said Lohan had been booked to appear on the New York-based chat show Thursday live via satellite from Los Angeles to read a special Top 10 list.
However, Tom Keaney, spokesman for Worldwide Pants Inc., retracted the announcement in a statement issued Wednesday morning.
"Lindsay Lohan will not be delivering a Top 10 list on Thursday's 'Late Show with David Letterman,' as had been previously announced," the statement said. "We made a mistake. Someone purporting to be a friend of Lindsay's reached out to the show yesterday, allegedly on her behalf, and booked her to appear. Clearly, this person was not authorized to make commitments on her behalf. We wish Lindsay well, and look forward to having her on the show in the future."
Lohan, the 24-year-old star of the hit movies "The Parent Trap," "Freaky Friday" and "Mean Girls," has seen her once-bright career eclipsed in recent years by her legal woes and battles with drug addiction.
On probation for a 2007 driving under the influence conviction, she was charged this month with felony grand theft for allegedly stealing a necklace from a California boutique.
