Holly will play Jenny Shepard, the new head of the unit where Mark Harmon's Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs works, the Hollywood Reporter said Monday.
The Reporter said a romantic connection might develop between the characters played by Holly and Harmon, who worked together on the final season of CBS' "Chicago Hope," which was Holly's last regular TV series.
Her film credits include "Dumb & Dumber," "Beautiful Girls," "What Women Want" and the 2005 Sundance film "The Chumscrubber," which opened in limited release last weekend.
