Kris Jenner and Bruce Jenner are apparently dragging out their separation until Keeping Up with the Kardashians ends, which is when they'll make their split official.

"Bruce and Kris will file for divorce but not until the current contract for the shows comes to an end," a source close to Bruce told RadarOnline.

"No one would watch if there wasn't drama, separation leaves it up in the air and will make viewers want to tune in. But once it's over, it will be over for the marriage too -- once and for all."

While the series could be renewed for additional seasons, Keeping Up with the Kardashians is reportedly currently scheduled to continue airing on E! for three more seasons until 2015, with filming slated to finish at some point in the middle of 2014.

"Kris thinks a long drawn out separation will keep viewers coming back for more and the show needs it, at the moment," the source said.

Kris and Bruce's separation, which the couple announced earlier this month, will be a major storyline in the reality show's upcoming ninth season, TMZ reported last week. The pair had been married for 22 years.

Kris, 57, and Bruce, 63, wed in April 1991, which was only a month after Kris got divorced from the late Robert Kardashian. They have two daughters together -- Kendall Jenner, 17, and Kylie Jenner, 16.

Bruce, who was previously married to Linda Thompson and Chrystie Crownover, has also been a stepdad to Kris' three girls whom she had with Kardashian: Kim Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian and Khloe Kardashian, as well as son Rob Kardashian.

Bruce also has two sons, Brandon Jenner and Brody Jenner, whom he had with Thompson.
