Kris Humphries reportedly partied and verbally assaulted his way out of Kim Kardashian's life, despite recent reports that he was blindsided and "devastated" by her decision to file for divorce.

"He belittled her in front of people. He'd call her stupid. It was truly sickening," a source told Us Weekly about the New Jersey Nets star in the cover story of the magazine's new December 5 issue.

"He tried to control Kim by bringing her down. He would say truly terrible things. One time, he said she had no talent and her fame wouldn't last."

According to the source, Humphries would call Kardashian "fat ass" although the reality TV star's curves were acclaimed, and when she would ask her husband for more alone time, Humphries saw the behavior as being too needy.

"He would tell her she was acting like too much of a wife and to 'get over it,'" another source told Us.

The couple began dating last December, and according to a third source close to the Keeping Up with the Kardashians and Kourtney and Kim Take New York star, "Kris was so different. He was fun and low-key and Kim thought, 'This is it!""

However, everything apparently changed after Humphries and Kardashian wed in late August following their May engagement -- leading to the couple's October 31 divorce, which occurred just 72 days after they had tied the knot. According to Us, Humphries got wrapped up in his newfound fame and started partying very frequently until the early hours of the morning when Kardashian was in bed.

"He started to love the life, going out every night partying," the source added. "He and his friends had never experienced anything like that and started to demand free tables, free bottles. It was embarrassing to her."

Humphries alleged cruel behavior wasn't just targeted at Kardashian but her friends as well, Us reported.

"He picked fights with people closest to her," a Kardashian family source told the magazine, adding that Humphries once attempted to spread rumors that Kardashian's close guy friend was gay.

"Kris was like this jockey frat guy picking on someone. It was bullying and mean-spirited."

The drama between Humphries and Kardashian is expected to play out during the second season of Kourtney and Kim Take New York, which debuts on Sunday, November 27 on E!. In the premiere, Humphries will reportedly bark at Kardashian, tease her weight and roughly wrestle with her until she accidentally breaks a toenail.

"That's one of the nicer episodes. E! is not re-editing him to look crazy," the third source said, adding that the editors only had so much material to work with and little of the footage portrayed Humphries in a positive light. "You can't edit what isn't there."

However, a source close to Humphries rebutted those claims and insisted "a lot of the show was staged and is edited to make Kris look bad."

Kardashian reportedly filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split from Humphries. While it was Kardashian's decision to end her marriage, according to an additional source, she was devastated.

"She's distraught and has been in bed a lot," the source told Us. "Her sisters have been over. She wants to go on vacation and decompress."
