Police believe a man dressed in white with a white scarf, caught on a liquor store surveillance tape walking with four men and two women, is the killer of the actress, the New York Daily News reported Saturday.
The actress had been walking along a Manhattan street at 3 a.m. Thursday with her fiance and two friends. The witnesses said duFresne was furious after the man pistol-whipped her fiance.
The fiance said his wife-to-be said, "What do you think you are doing? What are you going to do, shoot us?" The killer shot her in her chest.
A police source told the Daily News said duFresne might have been wiser to back away. "She was a girl from Minnesota, talking back to a ghetto guy who was ignorant enough to think it was a challenge," the source said.
