U.S. musician Kid Rock said on his Web site Thursday he has signed on as host of the upcoming CMT Awards show.

"The rumors are true -- I'm hosting the CMT Awards live from Nashville on June 9," the recording artist said. "All I can promise is I will be awesome."

Country Music Television confirmed the news on its own Web site, noting Toby Keith, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban are already confirmed to perform on the show at the Bridgestone Arena.

"Kid Rock has a lengthy history with CMT, including the taping of 'CMT Crossroads with Hank Williams Jr.' in 2001. At last year's CMT Music Awards, he won in the Wide Open Country video of the year category for 'All Summer Long,'" CMT.com said on its Web site.

"Kid Rock is currently hosting his Chillin' the Most cruise to the Cayman Islands. Later this summer, he will be performing on Bon Jovi's tour of stadiums in the United States, Canada and England."
