"Khloe is the one putting all the effort into the relationship," an insider told the magazine.
According to sources, those close to Kardashian are actually begging her to pay attention to warning signs and dump the 25-year-old NBA basketball star before she gets her heart broken again.
"Her friends fear Tristan will end up hurting her," the insider added.
Kardashian and Thompson have been dating for about four months now although she didn't officially confirm the romance until November of last year.
An alleged cause of concern is that Thompson just welcomed his first child, son Prince, in December 2016 with ex-girlfriend Jordan Craig.
"Khloe's friends have warned her that Tristan and Jordan could get back together," a source told Life & Style, "and at the very least, co-parenting between them could be very dramatic and complicated."
Another source elaborated, "Tristan would be with Jordy at the doctor's office, and he'd be off in the corner FaceTiming Khloe. It was absolutely infuriating to Jordy because she could barely get Tristan to focus on the birth of their baby. [Jordy] feels completely disrespected by [Tristan] and Khloe."
Kardashian and Thompson rang in 2017 together and shared intimate photos of the couple kissing on social media. Kardashian also recently moved in with Thompson and is therefore living in Cleveland. Her mother, Kris Jenner, confirmed how serious the romance is last month.
"Khloe is madly in love with Tristan... She said she was upset at how cold it was in Ohio, but she added that it was totally worth it and that Tristan would keep her warm," the magazine previously reported.
Thompson apparently lights up Kardashian's life, so hopefully her friends are wrong about his intentions.
"At this moment, a few days into 2017, I feel incredibly clear and probably the happiest I've been in years," Kardashian wrote on her website earlier this week. "It's such a great feeling that I have my happy back! It's from a genuine place and the most peaceful place I've been in for longer than I can even remember."
