Janell Kelly and Cory Adams had planned to get married next April. But when they were forced to leave New Orleans for Racine, Wis., where they have family, they decided to hold the ceremony on Kelly's 21st birthday, last Thursday.
Beth Desai, owner of a local bridal shop, overheard them talking to the county clerk while they were arranging a license and courthouse ceremony, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported. The next day she called the clerk and left a message for Kelly.
Desai supplied the dress. One of her seamstresses, who happens to be ordained in the Universal Life Church, performed the ceremony at a Lutheran church. The cake, photography and other items were also donated.
"I got my dream wedding," Kelly said.
