Judge suspends Notorious B.I.G. trial to investigate new lead

Christopher Wallace, also known as Biggie Smalls and Notorious B.I.G, was shot dead in Los Angeles 1997. The rapper's mother, Voletta Wallace, and his wife, Faith Evans, filed a federal lawsuit three years ago claiming the Los Angeles Police Department covered up the involvement of rogue cops.

Wallace's lawyer, Perry Sanders, told the judge Friday that he had received a telephone call from a man who said he had information that former police officers David Mack and Rafael Perez admitted to a jailhouse informant that they helped in the killing, E! Online reported. After meeting with lawyers Monday, the judge postponed any more testimony until Thursday.

Sanders told the judge the informant appears in a transcript of a disciplinary hearing and that he was seeking more information from the city and police department.
