Judge orders vandals to paintball car

UPI News Service, 07/22/2006

An Ohio judge ordered two young men to paintball the car they were riding in when they vandalized a woman's home -- by spraying it with paintballs.

Christopher Lyons, 19, and Joshua Breeding, 20, both of Madison Township, carried out the sentence in front of news cameras and a small crowd, the Willoughby (Ohio) News-Herald reported. After spattering paint on the white Ford Tempo, they had to wipe all the paint off.

At a hearing in Painesville Municipal Court, Judge Michael Cicconetti also sentenced the two to perform community service, painting for Habitat for Humanity.

"If they want to paint, we'll put it to productive use," he said.

Cicconetti's creative sentence seemed to have had an effect on the pair. Breeding described their vandalism as "stupid."
