A U.S. District judge in Detroit issued a temporary restraining order Tuesday against World Wide Red Light District and its president, David Joseph, barring the company from playing a preview clip of the tape on its Web site, the Detroit Free Press reported.
The Chatsworth, Calif., company had already removed the 40-second clip after receiving a cease-and-desist letter from Stapp's attorneys, the Free Press said.
Kid Rock's lawsuit seeks a permanent order barring the sale or distribution of the tape. Another hearing in the case is set for Friday.
Although the authenticity of the tape is not being questioned, attorney Michael Novak told the Free Press: "Even rock stars are entitled to privacy."
Kid Rock, whose real name is Bob Ritchie, said the video shot by Stapp on a concert tour bus in Miami "was not intended for public display."
It was unclear how World Wide, which marketed the infamous Paris Hilton sex tape, came into possession of the video of four women performing oral sex on the two musicians.
