John Travolta and Kelly Preston relying on their faith to cope
UPI News Service, 11/09/2009
Hollywood star John Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston say they are relying on their faith in Scientology to help them cope with the death of their son Jett.
Jett Travolta, who was autistic, died last January at the age of 16 after suffering a seizure during a family vacation in the Bahamas.
"We've been working very hard every day as a family to heal," USA Today quoted Travolta as telling reporters in Los Angeles during the weekend. "We have our own way of doing it, and it has been helping."
"(The) outpouring of love from, really, worldwide has been extraordinary," Preston said. "It's been our friends, our family, our church. We partake in spiritual counseling pretty much daily. ... It's a tricky thing. Sometimes, something that's right for the moment is not right the next day. Being with people who are important to you, being with people that you love, I think that's what has primarily helped us the most. Sometimes, being alone, too."
Travolta and Preston took part in the round-table interviews to promote their new big-screen comedy "Old Dogs," which marks the film debut of their 9-year-old daughter, Ella. Usmagazine.com said these were the first interviews Travolta has given since his son died.
The family's new movie is set for release Nov. 25.
